I can hardly believe that 6 days have passed since I last posted. Honestly, I am either on this computer writing and trying to figure out PHP coding for this site, or I am teaching a class. So, sorry I’ve taken so long to update.
After drudging through zillions of files, I have found photo’s of my vitiligo from 2004, 2005, and 2006, so we are going to have a nice base to look at for any changes in skin pigment now. And let me tell you, I was not happy when I looked at the pictures and realized just how much my vitiligo has spread. Okay, in all fairness it’s not that much, but there is noticeable change and this discovery only makes me that much more determined to follow through with this experiment.
So what did I do this week?
Man, that is a loaded question! I will spare you the gruesome details of my a/c going out during what has so far been the 3 hottest days of the summer. And, I won’t be gauche and mention the huge amount of money that it cost to replace the unit. So, let’s just talk about the experiment, shall we?
One comment and I am running to the store.
Through emails and reading other vitiligo sites, I have surmized that B12 plays a big role in pigmentation and, after reading many medical sites, I discovered that if your stomach acid can’t properly digest the B12 that you get through food or vitamins, then it won’t make it to the intestines where it is then supposed to secrete through the lining and into your blood stream. So, maybe this is a factor as to why I got vitiligo, and even though I have been taking B12 daily, it has been in pill form and probably not getting to my blood stream.
This week a young man commented on here that he had just started receiving B12 injections for another medical condition and he noticed his skin re-pigmenting within days of his first injection. Well, it didn’t take more than 2 minutes for me to click my way around the internet to find that taking liquid (sublingual) form of B12 is the best way to surpass the stomach acid issue. And, 1 minute later I was up from my desk and driving to my local pharmacy to buy the liquid vitamin.
What exactly are you taking everyday?
- B12 1 cc (that’s a dropper full if you get the subligual form)
- Folic Acid pills 1200 mcg
- And tanning for 15- 30 minutes, depending on my schedule.
How long is this gonna take?
Granted, I’m sure the injection form of B12 is a much higher dose than what I am taking, so it may take a little longer to see results. My magnifying glass is out and I anxiously await the first freckle.
