Mama Always Said, “Read the Label.”
In my blog, “Viva La Experimenta”, I shared my excitement about B12 because of the re-pigmentation it has promoted in some people who have received B12 injections. And even though I did a bit of research on the matter, apparently I should have dug deeper before going out and buying just any old form of it.
There are 2 forms that you can buy, Cyanocobalamin and Methylcobalamin. Cyanocobalamin is the most common form sold at drug stores…go ahead, check your stash right now. I checked the label on my brand new bottle and, lo and behold, it’s the cyan form.
Here’s the problem, the cyan form is not at all as useful to the body as is the methyl form. In fact, the more I read about it, the more I want to stop taking what I have and find the methyl form ASAP.
If you have taken B12 as cyanocobalamin, please leave a comment and tell me your opinion. Did it help with re-pigmentation?
In case you’d like to read up on the differences, here are a few links…
