1. What is Vitiligo Cover Lotion?

Vitiligo Cover Lotion is a cosmetic lotion designed to help soften the visible contrast between depigmented vitiligo patches and the surrounding skin. It is not traditional makeup: its color develops gradually after application rather than supplying complete, immediate coverage on top of the skin.

2. Is it a treatment for vitiligo?

3. What creates the color?

The formula contains dihydroxyacetone, commonly called DHA. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration explains that DHA reacts with amino acids in the skin’s surface and produces a temporary darkening effect. The result gradually fades as the outermost skin cells naturally shed.

4. How quickly does the color develop?

5. Does the lotion provide instant coverage?

6. How is this different from makeup?

Makeup sits on top of the skin and provides immediate color that is generally removed daily. Vitiligo Cover Lotion develops temporary color in the outer skin layer. Once fully developed, that color is water-resistant during typical daily wear and fades gradually rather than washing away like ordinary makeup.

7. Where can I apply it?

Vitiligo Cover Lotion can be used on external skin areas such as the arms, legs, hands, feet, and body, following the product directions. Avoid the eyes, lips, mucous membranes, broken skin, and other areas excluded by the label. The FDA restricts DHA to external application.

11. Can I build a deeper color?

Yes. The color is buildable. Apply a thin layer, allow it to develop completely, and assess the result in natural light before adding another light layer. This measured approach gives you more control than applying a heavy amount at once.

12. Do I need to choose a shade?

Vitiligo Cover Lotion is not sold as a range of makeup shades. The color develops through the interaction of DHA with the outermost skin layer, so individual results vary. A patch test is the best way to see how the developed color looks on your skin.

13. Can I use it on my face?

Some customers use cosmetic DHA products on facial skin, but the face may develop and fade differently from the body. Use only as directed, keep the product away from the eyes, lips, nose, and other mucous membranes, and patch-test first. 14. What if my first application looks uneven?

Do not immediately add a heavy second coat. Allow the color to finish developing, then review your preparation and application technique. Wear, Water Resistance, and Care

15. How long can the color last?

With typical use, the developed color can last up to five days. It fades gradually as surface skin cells naturally shed. Actual wear time varies with skin, preparation, application, bathing, swimming, friction, and exfoliation.

16. Is Vitiligo Cover Lotion waterproof?

Once fully developed, the color is water-resistant during typical daily wear. Water-resistant does not mean unaffected by every activity. Prolonged soaking, swimming, vigorous toweling, friction, or exfoliation may shorten wear time or cause uneven fading.

17. Will it transfer to clothing?

Because the color develops in the outer skin layer, it does not behave exactly like makeup sitting on top of the skin. Nevertheless, allow the lotion to dry and develop as directed before dressing, and use care with light-colored clothing during application. Product residue, moisture, or insufficient drying can affect fabrics.

18. Can I shower after applying it?

Keep the application dry during the development period and follow the product directions for timing. Showering, sweating, swimming, or applying other products too soon can interfere with development. After the color has fully developed, gentle bathing helps preserve a more even fade.

19. How can I help the color last longer?

20. How do I remove or fade the color?

22. Does the developed color protect against the sun?

No. Cosmetic color created by DHA is not sunscreen and does not protect your skin from ultraviolet exposure. The American Academy of Dermatology emphasizes sun protection for people with vitiligo. Use appropriate broad-spectrum sun protection and follow your dermatologist’s recommendations.

23. Can I use it while receiving vitiligo treatment?

Ask your dermatologist how to schedule cosmetic products around prescription creams, phototherapy, procedures, or other treatment. Do not apply the lotion immediately before a clinical appointment unless your provider says it is appropriate.
