Better Results Begin With Proper Application
How to Apply Vitiligo Cover Lotion
Follow these instructions carefully for the most natural-looking, even result. Always begin with a thin layer and allow the color time to develop before deciding whether you need more.
Quick Start
The Four Most Important Steps
Prepare Your Skin
Exfoliate in the shower and dry your skin thoroughly before applying.
Use a Thin Layer
More is not better. Gently rub the lotion into the skin until absorbed.
Let It Develop
Allow 6–8 hours for the color to develop. Avoid water and sweat during this time.
Build Gradually
If you need deeper color, add another thin layer after checking the developed result.

Before You Apply
Skin Pre-Care and Preparation
If Your Skin Is Very Dry
If your skin is excessively dry, apply a regular moisturizing lotion to your body for a few days before applying Vitiligo Cover Lotion. This helps prepare the skin to absorb the product more evenly for optimal results.
Exfoliate First
Shower using an exfoliating scrub or loofah, then dry your skin thoroughly before applying the lotion. Skipping this preparation can prevent you from achieving the desired result.
Decide Which Area to Cover
For the most even result, apply the lotion across the entire body area or at least the whole appendage where the vitiligo is located—not only to the individual white patches.
If you choose to apply the lotion only to a particular white patch, use the edge of a damp washcloth to gently smooth around the border and remove lotion from the surrounding pigmented skin.
Light and Medium Skin Tones
For best results, apply the lotion over the entire body area or whole appendage where the vitiligo is located. You may mix Vitiligo Cover Lotion 50/50 with your favorite moisturizing lotion to dilute the formula.
Darker Skin Tones
If applying the lotion only to white patches, remove lotion from the outer edges using a wet wipe or the corner of a damp washcloth. You may need several thin layers to attain a good color match.
Detailed Instructions
Application by Body Area
Body: Arms, Legs, and Torso
Using your hands, apply a thin layer of Vitiligo Cover Lotion over the whole area.
Keep your arms bent so the lotion distributes evenly over the elbows. Do the same for the knees. Lightly dab the joints with a dry washcloth to remove excess lotion.
Face
With your finger or the applicator sponge, apply a thin layer of Vitiligo Cover Lotion to the white patches.
Wait approximately one minute for the skin to absorb it. Then apply a 50/50 mixture of Vitiligo Cover Lotion and moisturizer over the entire face.
Hands — Do This Last
Clean your hands with warm water and soap. A scrub brush can help remove excess lotion from your palms and prevent staining around the nails.
Dry your hands with a dark-colored towel before applying the lotion. Apply a very small amount to the backs of your hands and blend evenly using the applicator sponge.
After application, lightly dab the knuckles with a towel to remove excess lotion.
Allow 6–8 hours for the color to develop and blend with your natural skin tone. Do not get water or sweat on the treated areas while the color is developing.
You may apply the lotion before bed if you use darker-colored sheets, or wait approximately 15 minutes after application before dressing.
Helpful Reminders
Quick Application Tips
- Remove the red cap under the lid and discard it, or keep it for use while traveling.
- Always apply a thin layer. More lotion does not produce a better result.
- Gently rub the lotion into the skin until it is absorbed.
- Reapply only after the color has faded to the point where you would like it darker.
- Avoid water and sweat for approximately 6–8 hours while the color develops.
- After the color has developed, you may resume your normal activities.
- Apply a regular moisturizing lotion daily to help the developed color last longer.
- During summer, you may need more than one thin layer to match tanned skin.
Recommended Before Your First Full Application
Try a Test Patch First
Choose a small patch of vitiligo that will not be noticeable while you are dressed for the day.
- Apply a small amount of Vitiligo Cover Lotion to only the white patch. Use the included sponge if the area is small.
- Allow the color to develop for eight hours without getting the area wet.
- Check the developed color. If it is not dark enough, add another thin layer and allow it to develop for another eight hours.
- If the color looks right after two layers, you will know that two thin layers are appropriate for future applications. Continue with a third layer if needed.
- During future applications, apply the first thin layer, wait approximately one minute for it to absorb, and then apply the second thin layer. Allow both layers to develop fully for eight hours.
Apply additional layers to the white vitiligo patches only.
