Xtrac and protopic

As of last friday, my dermatologist, Dr. Ring, has added protopic as part of my xtrac laser treatments. I am to apply it twice a day except on the day preceeding a treatment. I will keep you updated as to any changes which occur in pigmentation.

Yes, please leave us as much detailed information as you can. I have heard that the combination of xtrac with protopic works best. Yeah and where did you buy the Protopic it is kind of expensive? I am just curious.
Nathalie,
I was wondering if you have vitligo on your hands, and if so, how is that area responding to the laser treatments? I know hands, and feet have been known to be especially stubborn areas to treat…as well as most obvious to others!
Also, I am very curious if any of the other reader have ever tried remedies currently for sale on the internet, and what ( if any) was their success rate. I would love to have a non- biased ( meaning not fueled by a company selling a product) discussion remedies such as Novitil, anti-vitiligo, Melagenina, Kalawalla, and Tevaskin, to name a few. I have no health insurance so my options seem limited. What are your thoughts?
Cheers!
My son (8 yrs old) has vitiligo on his palm, wrist and under the right forearm. We’ve tried treating the patches with creams and while the vit. appears to be suspended, repigmentation has been very slow. A few months ago we noticed a small patch on his nose beginning to spread. It was considered a weaker form of vit. (as per Dr.). The patch was treated with Protopic and it worked very well. The patch disappeared with 100% repig. within a few days. We’re keeping an eye out to make sure no more patches appear on his face. Because of the success on the nose area the Dr. suggested we try Protopic on his hand/arm. We’ve been applying it for approx. 3 weeks with limited progress. We were warned that the palm/arm area are difficult to treat. At least in his case, Protopic appears to have been effective on his face. No telling whether it will work if another patch appears but we’ll be ready to use Protopic on it with hopes that it would work.

my son’s dermatologist prescribed protopic 1% cream for his vitiligo. everything i have read says not to use this on anyone under age 16 but to use .3% cream. She is telling me she won’t give me a prescription becasue repigmentation will not occur with .3%, only the 1%. I am worried as this is much stronger concentration. He is 7. His vitiligo is on his hips, legs, stomach and back. Does anyone know if she prescribed me the wrong concentration?
My sons Derm. also perscribed the .1%, but applied only once a day. Haven’t seen any improvement, it’s been about 4 weeks. The only area that’s improved is where he also got sun.
