I am completely depigmented and wondered if my skin can still
synthesize vitamin D without pigment??
- Yes. Vitiligo only damages the melanocytes, and vitamin D synthesis occurs in the keratinocytes.
However, it is wise for vitiligo patients to have their vitamin D levels checked annually.
