Today was my first visit to the dermatologist, Dr. Ring, for my XTRAC laser vitiligo treatments. I arrived at the office and was immediately taken to an examination. A few minutes later, Dr. Ring and a nurse came in and made a pictorial documentation of the locations of my white patches with a computer program. The doctor explained various treatment options and fortunately I am a good candidate for successful treatment with the laser.
After taking a few photos to be used for before and after shots, we went into another room to test my skin’s sensitivity to the laser exposure. The results from this M.E.D. test will be used to determine at which point to start the light treatments so as to not burn my skin. It was painless, though I could feel a bit of heat when the joules got into the 400-600 range.
I will go back tomorrow so she can see the results of the test on my skin. Once she determines the laser strength to be used, we will then set up my appointment times which will be either 2 to 3 times per week.
